Attitude of Gratitude!

A few questions to ask your Service Star about today:

  • Did you rake yards today or thank veterans?

  • If you thanked veterans: how will your letters, crafts, and candy bags make the service members feel?

  • If you raked yards: in addition to being grateful for the work of actually raking the yard, how does our group showing up to help a senior make them feel?

We combined forces with the Yellow Stars again today to kick off our new theme for November and December - Attitude of Gratitude.

Our project today spans 2-weeks - half our group walked to the yard of two local seniors to lend a helping hand by raking leaves from their yard. The other half of our group stayed at Service Stars and practiced being grateful to our veterans (in honor of Veterans Day!). We put all that extra Halloween candy to good use by assembling candy bags to give to veterans.

Our Service Stars also got crafty by making a beautiful American flag craft and they penned truly amazing heartfelt letters that will be sent to our military service members to show our appreciation. We are supporting the American Legion and Soldiers’ Angels with our work today. Many of the Service Stars really connected with the biographies of military members who are asking for letters!

Lastly, to really show our ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE we introduced our gratitude tree today. We are challenging our Stars to write something they are grateful for each week on a leaf that we will add to our tree. We can’t wait to see our tree grow for the next two months!!!
